The library's specialty is old rare editions, pre-revolutionary and Soviet periodicals, filmstrips, modern literature for children and about children.
Until 2024, the project was called the National Electronic Children's Library (NECL).
The "NEL.Children" collection presents the most significant works for children and works included in the genre of children's reading, designed by the best Russian artists and illustrators.
Most of the digitized materials are freely available and do not require registration on the site. Registration is required to view books protected by copyright. Some publications are available for reading only on the premises of libraries, where the virtual halls of "NEL.Children" are open.
Only four libraries in the Republic of Tatarstan have access to the "NEL.Children" database in the virtual hall mode. We invite libraries serving children to make wider use of the capabilities of this resource.
