The inter-regional scientific-practical conference, “Children's Reading as a National Treasure," was held in Kazan.

The conference was attended by the heads of children's libraries from all over the country, children's authors of theRepublicofTatarstanand book industry experts.  Among the speakers of the business portion of the conference were: Chairman of the Committee of the State Council for Culture, Science, Education and National Affairs, the writer and poet, Razil Valeev, laureate of the New Children’s Book and Book Award author, Anastasia Strokina (Moscow), laureate of the award, H.K.  Andersen, and illustrator of children's books, Igor Oleinikov (Moscow).

Among the topics discussed were: current problems and prospects for the development of children's reading, improving the level of education of children, and sharing work experience.

The program also includes workshops, book exhibitions and illustrator exhibitions.
