Lidia Charskaya (full name — Lidia Alekseevna Churilova, nee Voronova) is a Russian actress and writer specializing in children's literature.

She was presumably born on January 19, 1875 in St. Petersburg. Lydia studied at the Pavlovsk Women's Institute for seven years, and this time inspired her to write future books.

In 1898, Charskaya graduated from drama courses at the Imperial Theater College. After some time, Lydia became an actress at the Alexandrinsky Theater, where she devoted more than six years to work. Most of her roles were episodic. While working on the stage, Lydia took the pseudonym Charskaya, which she came up with based on the words "charms" and "charm".

In 1901, Charskaya began writing the novel "Notes of the Institute" in order to earn a little extra money. The publication of the work was carried out in parts and brought her unprecedented popularity among the children's audience.

Lydia has devoted more than twenty years to literary work, having written 80 novels during this time.
