As part of the "Memory of Generations: Pages of History" program, the library will discuss the tragic events that occurred on Belarusian soil during the Great Patriotic War. March 22 is Remembrance Day for the Victims of the Khatyn Tragedy. Khatyn is a symbol of unbearable pain and inhumanity. On this day, March 22, 1943, the Belarusian village of Khatyn, consisting of 26 households, was completely destroyed by a Nazi punitive detachment. All its inhabitants—the elderly, women, and children—were burned alive or shot. Participants will learn about this terrible chapter in history and will also be introduced to Ales Adamovich's book "The Khatyn Story," which served as the basis for the film "Come and See." Stills from the famous film by director Elem Klimov were shown. Finally, the history of the Khatyn memorial architectural and sculptural complex was told.
