International Patriotic Campaign to Support Children’s Reading: “Reading to Children about the Great Patriotic War"

On May 6th, the XVIth International patriotic campaign to support children's reading, "Reading to Children about the Great Patriotic War," will be held, organized by the Samara Regional Children's Library, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Samara Region.

 The motto of the campaign is, “You can only remember what you know. If you tell children about the Great Patriotic War, they will have something to remember,”

In the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, the event will be held for the 16th time. It began in the Samara Region, and since 2012, it has been held in internationally. The event's regular participants include children's institutions from eighty-eight regions of the Russian Federation, as well as institutions from the Republic of Belarus, and the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event format is face-to-face, involving reading a book and discussing what has been read with an audience of children and teenagers aged 5 to 15. Registered participants independently select works to read aloud at their venues and organize exhibitions of literature about the Great Patriotic War.
