On April 12, the day when Yuri Gagarin made the first space flight in the history of mankind, Cosmonautics Day is celebrated in Russia. On the initiative of the UN General Assembly, this day has been proclaimed the International Day of Human Spaceflight in the world. In Russia, Cosmonautics Day is celebrated on a grand scale — Gagarin's flight remains a national treasure and the pride of the achievements of Russian science.
