World Water Day is celebrated every year on March 22. It was established in 1993 by the UN General Assembly and is designed to draw attention to the problem of access to clean water and sustainable use of water resources. Water is a vital resource for all living beings on the planet, and its sustainable use is a key issue for preserving ecosystems and ensuring human well—being. It was created in order to remind the inhabitants of the Earth about the importance of such a resource as water. That only careful attitude and rational use will help to avoid an environmental disaster.
