The Ilbukhtinskaya Library will host an exhibition of newspapers and magazines on Russian Press Day, which is celebrated on January 13. On this day in 1703, Peter the Great issued the first issue of the Russian newspaper Vedomosti in Russia.
Press Day is a celebration of paper media and all those involved in the creation of periodicals.
The first Russian publication for children was published on January 14, 1785, during the reign of Catherine the Great. The magazine was titled "Children's Reading for the Heart and Mind."
The librarian will tell the children about the history of the holiday and the development of printing in Russia, and about the people who create newspapers and magazines. The children shared which newspapers and magazines their families read, and they exchanged opinions about their favorite magazines.
