On March 18, the Republic of Crimea celebrates the Day of the Reunification of Crimea with Russia.
On February 27, 2015, the State Council of Crimea amended the law "On Holidays and Commemorations of the Republic of Crimea", establishing that March 18 becomes an official holiday, a day off and will be celebrated annually as the Day of the Reunification of Crimea with Russia. In Sevastopol, the date of March 18 is called the Day of the Return of the city of Sevastopol to Russia and is also considered a non-working day according to the law "On holidays and memorable dates of the city of Sevastopol."Crimea and Sevastopol became regions of Russia again in March 2014. The historic event was preceded by a referendum held on March 16, 2014. According to the results of the referendum, 96.77% of residents of Crimea and 95.6% of residents of Sevastopol supported reunification with Russia.
