National unity day in Russia is a public holiday, which historically is associated with distant events of the early 17th century, when on 4 November 1612 soldiers militia led by Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky liberated Moscow from Polish invaders, demonstrating a sample of heroism and unity of all people regardless of origin, religion and position in society.
