"Romantic and sailor"

August 1, 2019 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of the famous American writer, sailor and traveler Herman Melville (August 1, 1819 - September 28, 1891). This is a good occasion to recall his amazing life and bright, unusually colorful, deep and attractive works. The library was designed thematic shelf from the series "Book on the screen" "Romantic and sailor."
Melville's main work, the Moby Dick or White Whale novel, dedicated to his friend, the American romantic writer Nathaniel Hawthorne, is considered the greatest American novel of the 19th century and the crown of the Romantic era in America, a masterpiece of world literature.
The novel has been repeatedly filmed in different countries since 1926. The most famous production of the book is a 1956 John Houston film with Gregory Peck as captain Ahab. Ray Bradbury took part in the script for this film.
The exhibition held fascinating conversations. The biography and work of the writer left a lasting impression on the readers. The event was attended by 9 people.
