Maslenitsa is an East Slavic traditional holiday celebrated during the week before Lent, which has preserved in its ritual basis a number of elements of pre—Christian Slavic mythology. The date of Maslenitsa changes every year depending on the date of Easter celebration. Traditional attributes of the national celebration of Maslenitsa are stuffed Maslenitsa, fun, sleigh rides, festivities; Russians have pancakes and tortillas, and Belarusians and Ukrainians have dumplings, cheesecakes and a shoe. Burdinsky Village Library invites villagers and guests to the celebration of Maslenitsa. There will be outdoor games, traditional pancakes, as well as the ritual of burning an effigy.
