Glagolitic and Cyrillic alphabets are considered the first Slavic alphabets. Both alphabets were created for the translation of biblical texts. We owe their origin to two learned brothers from the Greek city of Thessaloniki (now Thessaloniki): Constantine, who later received the name Cyril at baptism, and Methodius.
