World Poetry Day is celebrated on March 21. For the first time it was celebrated in the Russian Federation at the beginning of the noughties, while the date itself has been prescribed by a separate UNESCO resolution since 1999. It is known that the initiator of the Poetry Day in Russia was the poet Konstantin Kedrov. In 2000, he and his colleagues - the artistic director of the Taganka Theater Yuri Lyubimov and the poet Andrei Voznesensky - organized the first celebration in honor of the World Poetry Day in our country. Since then, the holiday is celebrated in the Russian Federation on March 21. On Poetry Day, events are held by libraries, museums, houses of culture, theaters, cultural centers, etc. Poetry Day in the library, use high-quality visual and educational materials. For example, at the beginning of the event, you can show guests videos about Russian poets, about the peculiarities of Russian poetry and hold loud readings.
