On April 26, Russia celebrates a memorable date – the Day of Participants in the Elimination of the Consequences of Radiation Accidents and Catastrophes and the memory of the victims of these accidents and catastrophes. The Chernobyl tragedy is a sad lesson for humanity. The most epic man-made disaster occurred on April 26, 1986. Despite the feat of firefighters, military personnel, doctors and other specialists of the nuclear industry, a huge area was contaminated with radioactive waste. Thanks to these people, the scale of the accident was minimized.
