On April 12, 1961, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome on the Vostok-1 spacecraft and made an orbital flyby of the planet Earth for the first time in the world. The flight in near-Earth space lasted 108 minutes. A Yuri Gagarin Space Explorers Park has been created at the site of his landing in the Saratov Region. Since then, this day has been celebrated in Russia as Cosmonautics Day, and in the world — the International Day of Human Spaceflight.

On April 12, it is planned to organize an educational hour for Cosmonautics Day in the Ishteryakovskaya rural library.
