A fairy tale is the first literary genre that every child gets to know. Simple plots make the imagination play. The more surprising is the fact that the genre of fairy tales is more than a thousand years old. Fairy tales appear in ancient times, they, like other genres of folklore, express the wisdom of the people, their ideals and view of the world. The same fairy-tale plots are found in different peoples. They differ in their artistic features and specific national features. Among the first storytellers were buffoons — their duties included making people laugh. Some rulers kept people at court who performed fairy tales when the king went to bed.
