"From Grandma's chest"

A master class on making a traditional Russian kokoshnik headdress was held in #librarie37. This event was not only an opportunity for participants to develop their creative abilities, but also to immerse themselves in the wonderful world of the history and culture of ancient Russia. Kokoshnik is an ancient headdress, a symbol of the Russian national costume. They were worn only by married women: since ancient times it was believed that, after getting married, you need to cover your head and hide your hair. It is not known exactly when kokoshniks began to be worn, but since the 10th century, ancient Russian women have been wearing headdresses that resembled them. Making a kokoshnik at the master class has become a real creative process. The participants used various materials under the guidance of the librarian: fabrics, ribbons, beads, beads and other decorative elements.
