"Reading about the war to remember" (as part of the XV International campaign "Reading to children about the war")

The war is gradually becoming a thing of the past, and the answers to all questions remain to be found in books… Before the start of the loud reading with the children, a conversation was held about the war years. The children honored the dead and missing in the war with a minute of silence. This year we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Russian writer Anatoly Vasilyevich Mityaev, who took part in the Great Patriotic War and defended our Homeland. And after the war, he became a journalist and wrote books for kids and adults. In this regard, we decided to introduce young readers to Anatoly Mityaev's touching story "A bag of oatmeal". It describes a case of severe starvation, about the work of dog nurses in the war. The guys listened to the story with interest, answered questions, and finally watched a video about dog fighters who defended during the war. The children learned that in wartime, along with the soldiers, about 60,000 dogs served, who worked and died in the war along with people.
